A crumpled version of what looks like a witness statement, partly filled out:

Inspector,

I am writing to you as I feel a heavy burden of guilt. I deceived your colleague, or as is more correct, I omitted important details. Mr. Jeeves did send me to protect the valuable liquor from Mr. Olaf, but this was not the only task I was asked to perform. Miss Abigail also spoke with me shortly after she arrived. She asked that I place a camera in the secret passageway, which I did when I pursued the liquor. I know not why she asked this of me, but I can only assume it was because of the guests in the library. I am not sure who it was that was in there, but I distinctly heard two voices, a man and a woman. And they were decidedly not...lacking in familiarity with one another. But I have said too much. If I am found to be a gossip, I’ll lose my post and my referral. I am not even sure I have the strength to put this in your hands.
